We got a new list of penny items yesterday and these items seemed quite abundant in the few stores where I went shopping. I even got 2 penny pillows that pennied out a while back!

Most of you know a new penny list was posted a few days ago on our website.  But if you didn't know, here is a short video of the items.  I know some people prefer videos and other prefer just reading.

The penny items that start today are mostly office products and craft supplies.  I would think most of these will be found in the "last chance" aisle, but you may find these on regular shelves too.  We don't have the UPC's at this point, only the SKU numbers.  The SKU numbers can be found on the shelf tags, but as I said, you may end up finding these in the last chance area ... so there will be no SKU number there.

Remember that is it only a penny if it rings as a penny.  You cannot make them change an item to a penny.  Be polite to the employees and offer to put things back (and put them back neatly) if your items don't scan at what you expected!  As always, YMMV.  Prices and clearance sometimes vary by stores.

New Dollar General Penny Shopping list for Tuesday!

I would like to start out by saying that Penny Shopping takes a bit of work. There are many items that look similar or are exactly the same as the penny items, you need to figure out which ones they are. This is accomplished by going through the lists, studying other people's hauls, reading comments, taking screen shots, and so forth.  If an items does NOT ring up a penny, then it is NOT a penny.  Just because you saw it somewhere on the internet or in the app does not mean they have to give it to you for a penny ... items reset to full price sometimes!!!

The items that are pennied, are supposed to be pulled from the shelves, but the employees sometimes miss items. If the item is on the shelf and you take it to the register, they are supposed to sell it to you though. They do not, however, let you go back to get more.

Please be polite and considerate to the store employees. Do not tear up a store looking for penny items.  Here is the most updated list that we have.  Remember that penny shopping is never guaranteed! Some items vary by location or store and some items may reset back to full price.  This is just a guide of confirmed past items at Dollar General stores.

I also want to say that I find it irresponsible for people to share a penny list in a coupon group.  This causes a lot of confusion ... and a lot of headaches for the stores.  Educate people on the basics of penny shopping - don't just give them a list!

I just went out and tried this and it worked perfectly!  You will need 2 computers as  you can only print 2 coupons per computer.  

I bought 3 of the All detergent.

$3.50 x 3 = $10.50 (+tax)
Let them total it to get the $3 instant savings (reduces the total to $7.50).
Hand them (3) $1 off coupons - link below (reduced the total to $4.50)

Total out of pocket is $4.50 + tax or only $1.50 each - that's over 70% off the regular price!


Dollar General is having a great sale on All Detergent (I use the free and clear variety). It is normally $5 and on sale for $3.50 through the 21st of March. Plus, you can print a coupon for $1 off, making it only $2.50! That's a 50% savings over the regular price! You can also ad-match this to Walmart (if Walmart carries the right size).
