There are a lot of recipes on the internet for bath bombs - and I looked at a bunch. I decided on WellnessMama's blog for the basic recipe that I used on the first batch, but changed a few things.
My 1st recipe is as follows:
1 cup baking soda
1/2 cup citric acid (found in the canning section at your local Walmart.)
1/2 cup epsom salt
3/4 cup corn starch
2 tablespoons of coconut oil (melted) - I got my coconut oil from the Dollar Tree.
10 drops of ginger essential oil
a small spray bottle of witch hazel
Mix all the dry ingredients in a glass bowl (prefereably) and use a wisk to break up any lumps. You can also mix in any dry flower petals at this time. I used dried lavender flowers in one of my mixes.
Add the essential oil to the coconut oil and slowly mix it thoroughly into the dry ingredients. I use 2-4 tablespoons depending on how moisurizing I want to make the. The more you add though, the softer and more fragile they are.
You will need to spray a bit of witch hazel on the mixture until it gets to the consistency where you can form it into a ball without it falling apart. After making them a couple times, you will get used to this part.
You can either form them by hand or use something as a mold. Personally, I bought a meatballer for mine.
But I bought this larger mold for my niece.
You can even squish it into a silicone mold. Use your imagination!
Most recipes say to air dry for 24 hours, but I found one that said to turn the oven on to 175 F to preheat and then turn it off. Put your bath bombs in the hot (off) stove. This seems to harden them up pretty quick.
Store them in a jar to keep moisture out.
Let us know how your's turn out!
