Dollar General mixes things up sometimes, and well, they didn't penny Tuesday like we thought. We try our best to get the correct information out to you.

Lots of new "surprise" pennies yesterday at DG!

There was a small list that stores were given yesterday for what was scheduled to penny, but it seems that many other items also pennied!

For those of you with the Penny Puss APP with DG Penny finder, We want you to know that we are updating it with Christmas clearance that is 10¢ right now. Soon these items should penny ... but most are worth the 10¢ that they are now!  That, of course, is IF you can find anything!  At this price, people are loading up carts!

There are a lot of items that do not look like Christmas that are being marked down and other items that do look like Christmas that are NOT being marked down.  You can always ask for a price-check here and there ... but after items penny, they can refuse a sale if you ask for price-checks and it's a penny.  You can see more about penny shopping at the informational links below.

Dollar General Clearance Event Sat, Nov11 through Thurs, Nov 16!

This is the clearance event that I have been waiting for!



I have purchased pretty much everything that I wanted at 90% off clearance price in the categories that are included, but I have been holding out on purchasing too many of the white dot and yellow dot summer clothes, shoes, and accessories. Well, starting Saturday Dollar General is having a clearance even for an EXTRA 70% off select clearance. These categories include:

Swim/summer - already at 90%
Green dot home - already at 90%
Lawn/garden - already at 90%
Patriotic supplies - already at 90%
White and yellow dot clothing, shoes, and accessories that are marked down to 25¢ to $2 depending on starting price.

Plus, Military and Veterans be sure to show your ID on November 11 to get an additional 11% off your purchase!

Update on 90% off clearance at Dollar General. What to look for!

Tuesday, quite a few categories at Dollar General went to 90% off.



The 90% off clearance includes lawn and garden, green dot home, swim and summer, and patriotic party supplies.  There ARE exclusions!  Some exclusions include hoses, grills, and coolers.

I had a few items that are green dot that did not ring up 90%.  The green dot $35 patio rug rang $4 for me ... and the green dot small square $5 cow picture rang up full price.

For swim and summer, last year it was most of the yellow "peel here" tags.  This year there are quite a few more items that are excluded.  Most of what I would call the obvious swim and summer items rang up 90% off, but some of the other toys with the "peel here" stickers did not.

I am trying to get these items loaded into the Penny Puss APP with DG Penny Finder so that when they penny, we will be ready!

Some items that you might want to look for that are NOT obvious are below:

Dollar General clearance markdowns for Tuesday!

There are no new pennies that we are aware of tomorrow at Dollar General.  But hopefully the 90% off clearance (YMMV) will entice you to shop!



Even though there are no new pennies, you can still look for older pennies.  Be aware, however, that new items are being put out for the upcoming holidays that may have reset back to full price.  Some of these items include foods and bakeware.  Please let us know if an item is in the Penny Puss App and it has reset.

That also brings to  mind that we are having a new contest this quarter!  There will be various prizes and you will need to enter either through emailing us pictures of seasonal clearance including UPC and picture of receipt or through the "share" tab on the bottom of the Penny Puss APP.  Keep an eye on our blog and Facebook page in the next couple days for additional details.

Well, this Tuesday coming up, we "should" have pennies! Gray star socks and tights as well as pink dot accessories should penny. Also, the select "As Seen on TV" that went to 90% this past Tuesday should penny.

We have a couple pennies starting tomorrow! The red, white, and blue Hostess that are listed in the graphic. Also, the other markdowns may vary by store. We have seen a lot of that lately with the purple dot!

May 16 update on Dollar General clearance.

There are no new pennies that we are aware of tomorrow at Dollar General. Someone has said that the Mother's Day balloons pennied today. I am not really interested and sorry, didn't check it out.

The penny list is big this Tuesday!  Pretty much everything that has been 25¢ and 90% off last week will penny on Tuesday, May 9th.

No new pennies, but new markdowns at Dollar General.

There should be no new pennies tomorrow at Dollar General, but there are some different markdowns. I will be up around 4:45 am to type of the lists of the fall and winter hardware. I was really hoping that brown dot would go down a bit more ... oh well.

New pennies at Dollar General tomorrow? This is our best guess.

Dollar General has said that they will have no more pennies ... since then, harvest, Halloween, and Christmas pennied. In the past week or so over 500 items have pennied and I have added them to the Penny Puss APP. I don't really know what they are doing! Anyway, there is a new list. These items are thought to be pennying tomorrow ... but one never really knows with Dollar General anymore!


So, hopefully I'm going to grab a couple of the Valentine's gift sets ... not too many though. The Hostess holiday cakes usually penny shortly after the holiday, so they may penny tomorrow. I'm hoping to verify first thing tomorrow!

If you are a penny shopper at Dollar General, you know as well as I do that it's hard to keep all hte information in your head ... and even with screenshots and notes, sometimes it's nice to have a quick reference.

Our APP has been available for about a year now on Amazon exclusively.  The app started out with about 2500 items and has grown to include over 5000 items.

Lately, we have had a lot of requests to make the Penny Puss Penny Finder App available for iPhone users too. Well, it was just approved last night and is now available for iPhones!  There is a one-time fee for the APP but no annoying advertisements!

It does NOT have a scanner.

Wow! 49¢ DVD Movies at Dollar General!

I happened upon these accidentally today!  My husband said that he has been looking "Hank Williams The Show He Never Gave" for a few years now, so he dropped it in the shopping cart.  It rang up only 49¢!  So, the lady who rung my order said she'd check the other ones for me.  She was super nice!  I got 10 movies altogether ... just 1 of each title that scanned for 49¢.

Some stores might not have these, but it seems to be all the ones that are premarked as $1.95.  I have put the UPC's of the ones that I found in the Penny Puss Penny Finder App and they are fully searchable.

The only thing that we know of that should penny are the Mother's Day bears. Good luck finding them! Also, keep looking for those older pennies!

Extra 50% off already reduced clearance at Dollar General this Saturday! (There are MORE exclusions than usual though, please read!)

There is a 1 day clearance coming up this Saturday and there will be some pretty good deals out there!  Go early for the best selection as there will be others waiting at the door at 8 am, I am sure ... yep, I'll be one of them!

The deal is extra 50% off already reduced clearance but the "core" clearance and Easter are supposed to be excluded this time!  That means that most of the items you can use coupons on will NOT be included.  You never really know about Dollar General though, they sometimes say one thing and do another - so YMMV.

The Penny Puss APP for Penny Shopping at Dollar General has been updated with the full UPC's of most items that pennied yesterday. (Yes, a FRIDAY LIST!) Approximately 50 new UPC's have been added to the App database. The list is also posted under the heading Feb 5. Here is the list with the last 5 of the UPC's for reference. We do not have the UPC's on a few of the items yet, but are working on it.
